Comment by TKoL on How can an uneducated but rational person differentiate between science and religion?

"Science takes the approach of philosophy a step further by rejecting all faith as a valid approach to the establishment of truth" - as someone who is staunchly pro-science and anti-religion, I find myself disagreeing with this. Scientifically minded people have faith in the sense of trusting people. That faith is indeed very different from the kind of faith you find in religions, but scientifically minded approaches to "what do I believe to be true?" absolutely involve trusting authorities for most people.
