-- I would actually question if perhaps this has more value than you're admitting. There are a LOT of experiment necessary to make scientific progress, and MANY of those experiments will not produce interesting results - they just confirm things we already know, or fail to confirm novel ideas. But confirming things we know, or failing to confirm novel ideas, ARE valuable scientific contributions that shouldn't be brushed aside as worthless.
